Who can take part

  • You must be older than 18 and able to sign consent
  • You must be able to lie flat during the scans
  • You likely have high cholesterol (primary high cholesterol or mixed cholesterol problems)
  • You have a history of heart or blood-vessel disease (like heart attack, stroke, or blocked leg arteries) and LDL stays high despite taking the most tolerated statin
  • You must have plaque in the carotid artery (neck artery) that measures at least 15 mm on ultrasound
