Who can take part
- Be 18 years or older
- Be in septic shock with ongoing low blood pressure needing medicines, plus lactate above 2 mmol/L
- Have already received at least 30 mL per kg of fluids, but not improved with fluids
- Have strong heart pumping on ultrasound (left ejection fraction above 65%) and a fast heart rate over 100
- Be on an invasive breathing machine with sedation and pain control
