Adrenal InsufficiencyPolymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR)Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA)

Treatments studied

Part of Bones, joints & muscles, Brain & nervous system, Heart & circulation, Hormones & metabolism, Immune system & allergy, Skin clinical trials.

This trial tests whether hydrocortisone (a cortisol replacement) helps people who feel symptoms of adrenal insufficiency after they stop long-term prednisolone. It compares hydrocortisone versus placebo to see if symptoms improve and dosing is safer/effective.

Hydrocortisone added during stress in people on low-dose prednisolone

This study tests whether adding supplemental hydrocortisone during stressful events can prevent problems in people who develop adrenal insufficiency from long-term prednisolone. It is meant to see if “stress dosing” is safer and helps the body respond to stress.

NCT07552636Recruiting
Monitoring Giant Cell Arteritis During Treatment Tapering

This study tracks patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA, a blood vessel inflammation affecting older adults) who are in remission and tapering their steroid medications. Researchers will monitor disease activity through blood tests and patient questionnaires to understand if their condition stays stable as they reduce treatment.

Hydrocortisone vs Methylprednisolone for Steroid-Induced Adrenal Insufficiency

This trial compares two medications, hydrocortisone and methylprednisolone, to see which works better for people whose adrenal glands have stopped working properly after taking high doses of steroids (methylprednisolone) for more than 4 weeks.

Comparing two liquid hydrocortisone versions for children

This trial tests two different ways of making a liquid hydrocortisone medicine for children with adrenal gland problems. It looks at which one is easier to take and causes fewer side effects.

Shorter steroid treatment for large artery inflammation

This trial tests if a shorter course of the steroid prednisone, combined with tocilizumab, works as well as a longer course for giant cell arteritis. You must already be starting tocilizumab and taking at least 20 mg of prednisone daily.

NCT03760835Recruiting· Phase 4
Once-daily hydrocortisone for adults with congenital adrenal hyperplasia

This trial studies whether a once-daily hydrocortisone tablet works as well as standard steroid treatment for adults with congenital adrenal hyperplasia caused by 21-hydroxylase deficiency. It aims to improve how safely and conveniently hormone replacement is taken each day.
