Sleep aids for people with sleep apnea and insomnia
Treatments studied
Part of Brain & nervous system, Lungs & breathing clinical trials.
This trial tests two sleep medications, eszopiclone and lemborexant, to see if they can improve sleep quality in people who have both obstructive sleep apnea (where breathing stops during sleep) and trouble falling or staying asleep. It may help if you have mild sleep apnea and a low threshold for waking up easily.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.

- You have a sleep pattern called a low arousal threshold, meaning you wake up easily

This trial tests whether a once-daily sleep medication, lemborexant, can help people with moderate obstructive sleep apnea who have a low arousal threshold (wake up easily from sleep). It aims to find the best one-month dosing schedule.
This study tests whether a common sleep apnea treatment (CPAP) affects how easily you wake up and the reasons behind it. It is for people who have just been diagnosed with sleep apnea and are not taking certain sleep medications or alcohol.
This trial tests if a sleep medication (eszopiclone) can lower blood pressure in people who have both insomnia and high blood pressure. You may qualify if you have trouble sleeping and your blood pressure is not well controlled despite treatment.
This trial tests whether a medication that blocks brain chemicals involved in wakefulness can help reduce markers of nerve damage in people with insomnia. It is for adults aged 40–65 with chronic insomnia, and it aims to see if improving sleep may protect brain health.
This study tests if lemborexant, a sleep medication, can help people with both a mental health condition and insomnia. You would take the medicine as prescribed and complete questionnaires over 2 months.
This early study tests a medicine that is meant to improve how your brain and breathing muscles work during sleep for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). If you qualify, you would be monitored during sleep to see whether the treatment changes breathing events and oxygen levels.
