This study tests whether lowering blood pressure and cholesterol can protect thinking and memory in people with a genetic risk for Alzheimer’s (the APOE e4 gene). If you are 50–75, have moderately high cholesterol and blood pressure, and do not have dementia, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are age 50–75.
  • You carry at least one copy of the APOE e4 gene (a genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s).
  • Your LDL cholesterol is between 100 and 250 mg/dL.
  • Your top blood pressure number (systolic) is between 130 and 180.
  • You do not have dementia, and you are not currently taking medications like donepezil or aducanumab for Alzheimer’s.
